Sandwich Cutter: Fun Custom Shapes for Lunchboxes

Aug 13, 2026 · 7 min read

How many times have you opened a lunchbox and seen the same boring sandwich? Now imagine that same sandwich shaped like a bear, a star, or your business logo. Suddenly, mealtime stops being a struggle and becomes the favorite moment of the day.

The KingsCutter Sandwich Cutter is a custom cutter for sandwiches, cookies and dough. Upload an image, choose the design, and within seconds you have a print-ready STL. Then you cut bread, cookies, fondant or fruit into that unique shape only you can create.

What is a Sandwich Cutter?

It is a cutter with tall walls and rounded edges, designed to go through sandwich bread, cookie dough or fondant sheets without deforming them. Unlike a traditional cookie cutter, it is built for larger pieces and thicker foods, like a full sandwich with its filling.

With KingsCutter you customize it from any image: your kid's drawing, your brand logo, a letter, a cute animal. The AI detects the edges and generates the 3D model ready to download.

Why do fun shapes work?

It is not magic, it is psychology. Kids (and many adults) eat with their eyes first. A heart-shaped or dinosaur-shaped sandwich invites you to try it, turning a meal that often creates resistance into something desired.

  • Picky eaters: a fun shape changes the relationship with food. That cheese sandwich nobody wanted becomes the star of the lunchbox.
  • Lunchboxes and bento boxes: Japanese bento culture has proven for decades that food with shapes is happier and healthier, because it invites more variety.
  • Parties and events: star- or number-shaped sandwiches for birthdays, pumpkin-shaped mini sandwiches for Halloween.
  • Business: cafĂ©s and bakeries use exclusive shapes to stand out at the counter and on social media.

Sandwich cookies: the sweet trend

Sandwich cookies —two cookies joined by a filling— are one of the strongest baking trends today. The classic Oreo is over a century old, but today the artisanal, customized version is everywhere.

With a Sandwich Cutter you can bake two identical cookies in any shape and join them with ganache, buttercream, dulce de leche or jam. The result is a dessert that looks professional and tastes homemade. In Brazil, the brigadeiro sandwich is a classic; in Europe, macarons; in the US, whoopie pies. The foundation of all of them: two perfectly equal pieces, and for that you need a consistent cutter.

How to create your Sandwich Cutter with KingsCutter

  1. Upload your image or text — a drawing, a logo, a letter or an animal. The AI turns any image into a silhouette.
  2. Choose Sandwich Cutter — among the 16 product types on KingsCutter, select the sandwich cutter.
  3. Adjust the size — the ideal width for sandwich bread is around 8-10 cm; for cookies, 6-8 cm works perfectly.
  4. Download the STL — the first download is free, no credit card required.
  5. Print or order — with food-safe PETG on your printer, or order it from our printing partners. If you prefer the finished physical product, visit store.kingscutter.com.

Ideas to make the most of it

  • School lunchboxes: prep the whole week with shapes that rotate every day.
  • Kids' parties: sandwiches shaped like favorite characters, age numbers or name letters.
  • Valentine's Day: hearts for a surprise breakfast or sandwich cookies with pink filling.
  • Christmas: stars, trees and snowflakes for December tables.
  • Your own brand: if you sell coffee or baked goods, a sandwich or cookie with your logo is edible marketing.

Tips for a perfect cut

  • Slightly cold bread: very fresh sandwich bread falls apart; refrigerate it for 5 minutes and it cuts clean.
  • Firm, even pressure: press the cutter vertically without moving it, so the edges stay defined.
  • Cold cookie dough: for sandwich cookies, chill the dough before cutting and you will see the difference.
  • Quick cleaning: food-safe PETG washes with warm water and soap, and handles daily use.

Beyond the sandwich

The Sandwich Cutter is one more piece of the KingsCutter ecosystem. Combined with our Cutters, decorative Stamps, Cake Toppers, Silicone Molds and Stencils, you can create complete collections for every occasion. The only limit is your imagination — and the AI.

Start for free today

Creating your first Sandwich Cutter takes less than a minute. Upload your image, download the free STL and try it. No 3D printer? Order your physical cutter at store.kingscutter.com or from our printing partners. Mealtime will never be boring again.

Does the Sandwich Cutter cut the bread with filling, or just the slice?

It cuts the whole sandwich, bread and filling included, as long as the filling is not too thick or runny: the wetter the filling, the more likely the wall is to drag the crumb. Press straight down with the palm of your hand without twisting the piece, then lift it vertically.

The tall wall exists for one practical reason: to go through an assembled sandwich in a single pass, instead of cutting the 2 slices separately and lining them up afterwards. For clean corners, wipe the inner wall between cuts with a damp hand and chill the bread for a few minutes before cutting.

Design scalingThe same drawing at 7 cm and at 20 cm keeps the silhouette in proportionOur own measurement in the workshop

Based on our own measurement in the workshop, the Sandwich Cutter wall height is around 25 mm, enough to go through 2 slices of sandwich bread with a thin layer of filling in a single pass, without the piece resting on the board before the cut is complete.

En la prĂĄctica

Based on our own measurement in the workshop, the system scales the whole outline when you change size: the same drawing cut at 7 cm and at 20 cm keeps the silhouette in proportion. That means one file serves both party mini sandwiches and the full slice, with no redesign required.

From image to STL to lunchbox

The starting point is any image: your child's drawing, a letter, a little animal or your cafe logo. Upload the image, choose Sandwich Cutter and download a print-ready STL. If you are just starting, this guide explains how to get from a photo to a cutter: photo to 3D cutter, and if you are thinking about selling, see selling decorated cookies from home.

A Sandwich Cutter is not only for kids: cafes and bakeries use exclusive shapes to stand out in the display case and on social media, and the kingscutter.com library holds hundreds of ready designs, with the first download free. Go to design at kingscutter.com and try any shape you like, or order the physical print from the physical store with shipping to several countries.

Preguntas frecuentes

Does the Sandwich Cutter cut the whole sandwich or just the bread?

It cuts the whole sandwich, bread and filling, as long as the filling is not too thick or runny. Press straight down with the palm of your hand without twisting, and wipe the inner wall of the piece between cuts so the bread does not deform.

Does it work for cookies too, or only bread?

It works on sandwich bread, cookie dough, fondant and sheets of firm fruit. Its tall wall is designed for pieces thicker than an ordinary cookie, so on thin dough it performs exactly like a traditional cutter.

How do I keep the corners of the design from breaking?

Chill the bread or dough you are about to cut, because cold gives it structure and stops the crumb tearing. Press once with even pressure and lift the piece straight up; pressing twice over the same cut is what breaks the corners.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

It is not recommended. The piece is food-grade PETG and a dishwasher degrades PETG, so hand washing with warm water and mild soap is better. The handle (puxador) comes included with the physical piece, not as a separate accessory.

Which size is right for a sandwich and which for a cookie?

Available sizes are 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 17 and 20 cm. For a sandwich made with sliced bread, the medium and large sizes cover the whole slice; for cookies and party decoration, the small and medium sizes tend to be the most useful.
