What is a Multi Cutter?
Short answer: a Multi Cutter is a pack that groups several different designs on a single print plate. You upload 2 to 8 images to kingscutter.com and each one becomes an independent cutter, downloaded together with the rest as one STL file.
The difference from the rest of the catalogue is not the number of sizes but the number of drawings. A set repeats the same motif at several sizes; the Multi Cutter does the opposite: many different motifs at one shared size.
How the pack is built, step by step
- Open the kingscutter.com Designer and upload your first image.
- Pick Multi Cutter in the product selector.
- Open Manage designs and load the rest with Add design. It accepts PNG, JPG and SVG, and takes several files at once.
- Rename or delete cards until the pack looks the way you want.
- Download the STL: it comes with every piece in a single file.
How many designs fit in a Multi Cutter?
Up to 8 different designs per pack. The limit is fixed at 8 pieces, both in the Manage designs modal and in the geometry generator, and the Add design button switches off once you reach the top.
It is not an arbitrary restriction. A typical desktop printer plate measures 220 × 220 mm, so 8 medium-sized cutters fill almost the whole surface in one single print.
How are the pieces arranged on the plate?
The layout is automatic. The generator works out the columns from the square root of the piece count and places each cutter by its real box, with 8 mm of separation between them.
- 2 designs: 2 columns
- 3 and 4 designs: 2 columns
- 5 to 8 designs: 3 columns
Every piece keeps its own traced outline. You can mix a letter, an animal silhouette and a geometric shape in the same pack without any of them warping.
How is it different from a modular cutter or a size set?
| Type | What varies | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Size set | 1 design, several sizes | Selling the same motif at 7 cm and at 10 cm |
| Modular cutter | 1 large design, split into pieces | Drawings that do not fit the plate whole |
| Multi Cutter | Up to 8 different designs | Themed sets and seasonal combos |
A modular cutter solves a size problem and the Multi Cutter solves a variety problem. If your drawing is a single large one, the right path is the modular cookie cutter.
Multi Cutter specs and measurements
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Designs per pack | Up to 8 |
| Layout | Automatic, in a column grid |
| Separation between pieces | 8 mm |
| Blade thickness | 0.8 mm |
| Base | 3.8 mm tall, in 3 shapes |
| Stamp on every piece | Optional, on by default |
| Stamp relief | 4 mm |
| Preview colours | 4, one per piece (beige, blue, red and green) |
| Output | 1 STL file with every piece |
All values come from the real Designer settings, not from an estimate. You set the piece size in the panel, and in the physical catalogue at Stay Humble 3D the usual sizes run from 7 cm to 20 cm.
How do you print a cutter pack?
Short answer: print it in PETG with a 0.2 mm layer, 3 walls and 15% infill. We apply that combination in the workshop because it keeps the blade firm while leaving the base slightly flexible, so it does not warp when washed.
PETG is a plastic suitable for food contact. The FDA lists PETG among the copolymers authorised for food-contact articles in Title 21 of the CFR, section 177.1315. In Europe, the body that assesses those materials is EFSA.
Wash the cutters by hand with warm water and mild soap. 3D printing leaves micro-grooves on the surface and those channels trap dough residue, so hand washing is the routine that keeps the pack in good shape for longer.
What is a cutter multi-pack for?
The most profitable use is the themed set. According to the Better Baker Club survey (2022), 37% of home-based bakers who sell from home name cookies, brownies and bars as their best-selling products. One pack covers a whole theme —animals, numbers, letters— with a single print.
The market backs that move. According to Research and Markets, the global cookie market goes from USD 30.6 billion in 2025 to USD 40.6 billion in 2032. Projected annual growth is 4.1%.
The 3 packs customers ask for most
- Kids' birthday: one main silhouette, a number and 2 filler shapes. Four pieces that cover the whole table.
- Seasonal: Christmas, Halloween or Easter. One pack per holiday and the month's production is covered.
- Letters and numbers: the most reusable pack, because it works for any name.
For selling, the format that works best is the combo with one large cutter and several small ones. In the physical catalogue they sell as kits and return more per print than a single loose cutter.
